Method
From intake to readout without burying the awkward exit
This page explains how an onboarding flow measurement engagement actually runs at Proxy Vertex Grid. It is the custom service-model page for our study practice — not a product tour.
Sequence
The measurement window, step by step
1. Intake
We confirm the consumer app, platform, and which entry paths matter. Together we write a plain-language definition of first value — the moment that proves the first session did its job. Without that sentence, later charts stay slippery.
2. Window dates
You reserve a two-week observation window. We need build access (TestFlight or Play internal track) and current screenshots of soft-asks. A deposit holds the dates on our calendar.
3. Observation
We watch 8–12 recent first installs. Each pause, denial, back-gesture, and exit gets a timestamped note tied to a named screen or dialog. We do not coach end users unless you separately arrange moderated sessions.
4. Path reconstruction
Notes become a written sequence: splash, soft-ask, system permission, account fields, empty states, first useful content. Shared screens across two entry paths are marked once; divergent doors stay separate.
5. Report and readout
You receive the written report before a ninety-minute readout. We present the exits in order, recommend a short list of changes worth testing, and leave shipping decisions with your product owner. Remeasurement can follow after you release a change.
What we need from you
- A named owner on the product side who can decide scope
- Internal build access for the platform under study
- Honesty about guest paths versus forced account paths
- Any existing first-session counts, even if incomplete
What we will not do
- Rewrite your entire app outside the first-session path
- Hide an exit that makes the funnel look tidy
- Require you to adopt a particular analytics vendor
- Bill you as if this were a monthly software seat
